1. Who we are and what this statement covers

This statement explains how the owner of the website canadabetlabel.com (the “Site”) handles the personal information of the people who visit it. The Site is an English-language information portal about the BetLabel betting and casino brand, written for readers in Canada who have reached the legal gambling age in their province.

The Site is not a gambling operator. It does not open gambling accounts, does not accept bets, deposits or payments, and never asks for identity or financial details. If you follow a link to the operator’s site, the information you enter there is handled by the operator as a separate organization, under its own privacy policy.

We are accountable for the personal information collected through the Site. Questions about your information go to our privacy contact at contact@canadabetlabel.com.

3. What personal information we collect

We only handle the information the Site needs in order to work:

  • Technical and access data: IP address, date and time of the visit, page requested, referring page, browser type and version, operating system and error messages, logged automatically by our hosting servers.
  • Contact details you choose to send us: email address, name and the content of your message, only if you write to us.

The Site sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing on your device (see About cookies). We do not collect sensitive information, we do not build user profiles, and we make no decisions based only on automated processing.

4. Why we use it

PurposeInformationBasis
Running the Site and keeping it secure, including the prevention of abuse and attacksTechnical and access dataNeeded to deliver the page you ask for; consent implied by your visit, and our duty to safeguard information (PIPEDA, principle 4.7)
Answering questions, suggestions and complaintsContact details you choose to send usYour express consent when you write to us
Meeting legal obligations and answering the authoritiesThe information needed in each caseWhere the law requires or allows it (PIPEDA, section 7)

If we ever add audience-measurement or advertising tools that are not strictly necessary, we will tell you first and switch them on only with your consent. You will be able to withdraw that consent at any time.

5. Minors

The Site is meant only for adults who have reached the legal gambling age in their province: 19 in most of Canada, 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under that age. If you know that a minor has sent us personal information, write to contact@canadabetlabel.com and we will delete it.

6. Who receives the information

The providers that host the Site, run its content delivery network (CDN) and protect it from attacks may handle information on our behalf. They may only use it to provide that service, and our contracts require them to keep it confidential and to protect it at a level comparable to ours. We remain accountable for the information we entrust to them.

We may also disclose information to courts, police or other public bodies when a law or a court order requires it. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Links to the operator’s site or to other third-party sites take you off the Site. Those sites have their own privacy and cookie policies, and we are not responsible for them.

7. Processing outside Canada

Some of our providers may store or process information outside Canada. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts, law-enforcement and national-security authorities. Our contracts require those providers to protect the information at a level comparable to Canadian law and to use it only for the service we pay for. Where Quebec law applies, we assess the protection the information will receive before it leaves Quebec.

8. How long we keep it

  • Server logs: up to 90 days, unless they are needed longer to investigate a security incident.
  • Messages and requests received by email: as long as needed to reply, then up to 12 months, or until any related complaint or claim is settled.

When these periods end, the information is deleted or anonymized for good.

9. Your rights

Under PIPEDA and the provincial laws, you have the right to:

  • Access: find out what information about you we hold, where it comes from, how we use it and to whom we have disclosed it.
  • Correction: have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected.
  • Withdraw consent: take back your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits, and be told what that means for you.
  • Challenge our compliance: raise a concern with our privacy contact about how we apply these principles.

Quebec residents also have the right to have their information de-indexed or deleted in the cases set out by law, and to receive computerized information they provided in a structured, commonly used technological format.

To exercise a right, write to contact@canadabetlabel.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity. Requests are free, and we answer within 30 days.

10. Complaints

Please contact us first, so we can try to fix the problem. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, 30 Victoria Street, Gatineau, Quebec K1A 1H3, toll-free 1-800-282-1376. Residents of Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia can also turn to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec or to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of their province.

11. Security

We protect personal information with safeguards suited to its sensitivity: encrypted HTTPS connections, restricted access to our systems and collecting as little information as possible. If a breach of our safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm, we will report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and notify the people affected, as PIPEDA requires. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the absolute security of the information you send us.

12. Changes to this statement

We may update this statement when the law or the way the Site works changes. The current version is always on this page, with the date of the last update.
