1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit it. Similar technologies, such as the browser’s local storage (“localStorage”), can store information in the same way. On this page, the word “cookies” covers both.
Cookies can be technical or strictly necessary, when they are needed to deliver a service you asked for, or not necessary, such as analytics, personalization or advertising cookies.
2. Legal framework
Canada has no law written specifically for cookies. When a cookie collects personal information, PIPEDA applies: you must be told clearly what the information is used for, and your consent must be meaningful. In Quebec, the private-sector privacy act also requires any technology that can identify, locate or profile a person to be switched off by default. Under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), a person is considered to consent to cookies when their conduct makes it reasonable to believe that they do.
3. Cookies we use
The website canadabetlabel.com sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser’s local storage. We use no analytics, personalization, advertising or social media cookies.
The Site’s hosting provider may set technical security cookies that are strictly necessary to protect the Site from abusive or automated traffic. Those cookies are not used to identify you or for advertising.
If we ever start using cookies that are not necessary, we will update this page and switch them on only after you agree, through a notice that lets you accept or refuse them just as easily.
4. Third-party cookies
When you follow a link to the operator’s site or to another external site, that site may set its own cookies on your device. Those cookies are the responsibility of that site’s owner and are covered by its cookie policy, which we recommend you read.
5. How to manage and delete cookies
You can set your browser to block or delete cookies, including those set by the third-party sites that the Site links to:
- Google Chrome: Settings, Privacy and security, Third-party cookies or Delete browsing data.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings, Privacy & Security, Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari: Settings, Privacy, Manage Website Data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings, Cookies and site permissions, Manage and delete cookies and site data.
Blocking technical cookies, such as the hosting provider’s security cookies, may stop the sites that use them from working properly.
6. More information
